Coach by Coach

Jack Weston-Toora

Ins - Leigh Craig (Sommerville) Jake Smart and Will Goosey (Mornington) Dylan Triffit Reghan Lewis (Foster) Sam Bright (Stony Creek) Lachlan Ireland (Dalyston) Outs - Chris Gardiner, Majok Puok, James & Josh Symons, Josh Toner Pre-season update - Glaringly obvious, but we required a big push to bring some extra players in this pre-season. Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, it took a significant amount of time to get players in & we lost some talent from 2023 as a result. The club has worked tirelessly to add some players to the list and as of today things are a lot more positive than what they were at Christmas on this front. Promisingly front, the return of Lachy Ireland, and the buy in of young and old players who returned in 2023 has been heartwarming. The attitude and turnout locally all pre-season has been the best in my time at the club. Our hope is that this translates into some better results this season. Having been in the game long enough, I’ll leave the grandiose statements to others and wait and see what April brings before weighing up where things sit.

Sam Davies - Foster

In: We have 6-7 players coming up from the under 18's that will hopefully have a big impact on the playing group. Most got some experience last year but it'll be fantastic that they can now focus on purely senior footy rather than 18's and seniors. Names include Jack Rathjen, Leevi Lidstone, Caeleb Garlick, Angus & Flynn Lomax and Toby Delaney. There are some local boys coming back too which will hopefully add depth to our overall playing group. Out: Troy Van Dyke and Jake Thornell (Chelsea Heights) Reghan and Jaxon Lewis (Toora) Brendan Neville Tom Bartholomew Trent Hamilton Tim Wigney Mitchell Green (ACL) We have had a big turnover with a lot of experienced players retiring or not playing this year - our local numbers are really pleasing and have probably been the best they have been since pre Covid. We will lean on our younger group to get us through like we have previously. Most have done the majority of the pre season so they’re much better equipped to play bigger roles. We look forward to playing Mirboo in a night match round 2 and also what will become an annual ANZAC weekend match against Thorpdale in round 3. We are stoked that clubs want to engage with us and promote both clubs in a positive way on and off the field. Pleasingly from the club perspective, our senior netballers look to be in a stronger position with new coach Brittney Rooney. They’re getting great numbers and will definitely have a better season as a collective.

Nathan Allen - MDU

Ins: Lachie wright, Steve Forrester, plus a few local juniors returning including Jake McMillan and Ryan Giliam. Outs: Ben Schroen, Billy Evers, Nick Tuckett Pre season has been good. A chance to build on last year where we had a lot of new faces come to the club and to have all 3 football teams play finals, was a great achievement. A lot of stability this year has meant we can focus purely on football and build on the way we want to play. Looking forward to getting into the real stuff very soon!

Chris VerBoon- Stony Creek

Pre season is going well at stony creek. We have been able to add good numbers to our list. Most of the players that have returned are locals that have had a break from footy for various reasons.

Wayne groves from Devon meadows and Ryan Lewis from bunyip are two new recruits that have fitted in nicely to the playing group.

We welcome Cam stone back to the club after his success at Leongatha. He will add some good depth to our midfield.

We have been building on last years structures and hope to test them in the upcoming coming practice matches.

Good luck to the other teams. Should be a great year of football.

Ins-Cam Stone, Sam Marriot, Wayne Groves, Ryan Lewis, Jimmy Monaghan, Johnny Phillips

Paul Henry - Morwell East

Morwell East Exits - Daniel Siddle(Retired) Recruits Brad Kimberley-Traralgon Chris Wangman-Churchill Jacob Blaire-Mirboo North Caiin Lorangi-Churchill Shea Burzese-Morwell Jordy Wilson-Morwell The boys have been working hard on the track through the pre season. We have had a good hit out with a couple of practice matches already. Looking forward to see what we can do in 2024.

Sam McCulloch - Yinnar

The YFNC have appointed new coach Sam McCulloch who has a wealth of experience already being at the helm previously and additionally a premiership captain of the club. The club wishes the very best to past coach Daniel Taylor and thanks him and his family for his commitment, efforts and winning a premiership in 2022. Sam our newly appointed coach has already worked hard to appoint a new coaching outfit in Adam Bailey and Tom Robertson as playing assistant coaches. Plenty has been going on retaining 90% of last years playing group and adding much needed recruits to help complement areas Sam identified the team could improve. A youthful side will see plenty of opportunities for the young playing list and those who have worked hard will get the first opportunity in the early rounds of the season. Outstanding and dedicated numbers on the track was reflected also on the brutal training camp in February up at Jumbuk Park. Jumbuk Park are doing wonderful things in the local community for disadvantaged youths and it was a great start to undoubtedly a positive relationship moving forward. Nathan Rowley stood aside as captain to be able to concentrate on rehab due to a season ending injury in 2023 however is still an integral component of the group. This years side has appointed new captain Mark Stolk which the group identified as committed, loyal and supportive which is another exciting development for the club. Rounding out the new leadership group, new game plan and exciting numbers makes for another positive year down at the magpies this coming season.

Jason Kennedy - Tarwin

Please see the following for the Sharks. The Sharks have had a good pre season, numbers have been a little up and down with a bit of a larger Melbourne base of players for the year ahead, however there has been a core group of guys that are looking fit and ready for the season ahead. We are wrapped to have picked up Lachie jones as a senior assistant coach from Wonthaggi, along with now locals to Tarwin Kane McCarthy and Travis Krause, we’ve also managed to get a couple of guys out of the east of Melbourne. This year we will also see a couple of guys returning after having seasons off due to injury or other reasons and that should be a good injection into the depth of our senior group. Notable exits from shark park are Lachie Schreurs, Kaj Paterson, Tom Crocker and Nathan Mccrae We hope to be much more competetive than last year in the senior ranks finishing outside of the finals but only being a couple of games off picking up a spot. Our reserves will be headed up by Rob Houston and Trucky Cameron and they will be looking to chase back to back success.

Damien Turner- Mirboo North

MNFNC Capt- Hudson Kerr Reserves coach Dom Pinneri Departed- Ben Campbell(Nilma-Darnum), Julian blackford(Morwell), Jacob Blair(Morwell east), Joel Lambourne.(maffra) Darcy Brock (Trafalgar) Recruits- Riley Oddy (Morwell/returning local) Jeremy Salinger (picola) Jack Burgess-Pincicni (returning local)) Daniel Taylor (Yinnar/returning), Tom Kelly (Warburton) Tom Harris (Poowong) Harry Reveille-Gent (Leongatha/returning local) Aaron Scicluna (Boisdale/Briagalong) Conner White (returning local) After an up and down pre season with some changes across the club and the storm through town, the playing group have really banded together and put in a great effort of late. Strong numbers, great energy. I am really excited to see where this young, talented group can go in 2024, and further their footy at senior level.

Craig Skinner- Newborough

In Kyle Jennings, Blake Julin, YYN North, Daniel Risol Ellinbank Jack Hudson Darnell Grech Out Sam Hanson Moe, Josh Monacella Gormandale, Nick Caldow Joel Mitchell Mackay. Going to be a slow start to the season. Low numbers at training and have a few out still with injuries and departures. Brendan Mason - Boolarra

Out Shaun falla (Thorpdale) Josh Segond (ACL) Chris Whiteoak (Woodside) Nathan Giardina (Morwell) Nic Dowse (ACL) Ins Mitch Lovison (Morwell) Mason Porykali (Morwell) Reese Adams (Morwell) Joel Mason (Churchill) Ricky Cochrane (TTU) Laquell Banderson (Palmerston) Thomas Poulton (Glengarry) Jon Noy (Alexandra)

Ambu Uliando - Hill End

Outs- Liam Fitzpatrick, Rob Fiddelaers, Dan Coates,

Ins - Adam Forth, Joey Conley, Cody Mostert, Trent Harrison.

Preseason has mainly been about fitness. Last year we were getting run over in the third and fourth quarters. We may not have the most talented list but we have a close knit, young group that now has a year of senior football under their belt that will play a tough, relentless game. I think we will surprise a few clubs this year.

Jarrod Walker- Fish Creek

Noteable Ins - Tom Buckley Kairon Dorling Brady Mitchell Bailey Harfield-Park Darcy Berryman Outs - Blaine Coates Cam Walker

Pre-season has been relatively positive, with 5+ recruits coming on board with majority of them being fishy locals from juniors. They have brought a real hunger to the group and a heap of enthusiasm. With only losing a couple from the grand final side there’s been a real competitiveness at training with everyone understanding it’s going to be tight for spots. A good place for the club to be in for the first time in a few years

Jason Winderlich - Thorpdale

2 massive outs: Rob Turnbull Mitch Chopping Few boys coming in to help build depth in list: Anthony Rosato Michael Rosato Jordan Ceppi Ben Britten Dillon Leys Shaun Falla Looking forward to another tough and even season in the league. Expecting to see Fish Creek, Newborough, Foster and MDU fill the top 4. Hopefully we can fight hard all year to snag one of the remaining spots in the top 6.
